Police organises drug abuse, cyber awareness progs in Handwara

Srinagar: Police under the aegis of Civic Action Programme on Tuesday organised series of events and medical camps in Handwara, Ganderbal & Anantnag.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, in Kulgam, the awareness programmes regarding drug abuse and cybercrimes were organised at Handwara, Kralgund, Vilgam and Langate. The awareness programmes were chaired by SDPO Kralgund and SDPO Handwara along with SHOs of PS Vilgam, PS Handwara, PS Kralgund and IC PP Langate. The programmes were attended by PRI members, senior citizens, students and members of trading community.
During the programme the participants were made aware of cybercrimes prevalent in day-today especially those related to use of social media, electronic banking, identity theft, credit card fraud, data stealing, cyber stalking, among others. They were also briefed about the social and health hazards of drug addiction and the measures to be taken to counter these social evils.
Meanwhile in Ganderbal district also, Police organised a Nukkad Natak Show at Townhall Ganderbal & Govt. Boys Middle School Safapora on the theme Drug Free Society. Various artists of the district participated in the event and showcased their performances. Officers of civil administration also participated in the event. The show witnessed an overwhelming response from the students, youth and the general public. The artists & students sent the message to the people by their performances to refrain themselves from the menace of drug addiction. It is pertinent to mention here that the show is a part of a series of events being conducted by Police under Civic Action Program. The main motive of the Natak was to give message about the drug abuse that has engulfed our society. Later, DySP Hqrs Ganderbal distributed mementoes & trophies among the Artists, Students.
Furthermore in Anantnag also, Police under the aegis of Civic Action Programme organised two more free medical camps at Sheikhpora Sallar and Hapatnar Aishmuqam areas of district Anantnag. The main aim of the medical camps was to provide basic health care facilities to the downtrodden people of far-flung areas of the district at their door steps. Faculty of Doctors like Physician, Gynaecologist, Eye specialist and General Medicine were available during the medical camps for patients. Free medicines were distributed among the patients. The Medical health camps were attended by local PRIs, officers of Police department and large number of civil society including 913 patients attended the camps. It is pertinent to mention here that yesterday Police organised two free Medical Camps at Gowran Kokernag and Kapran Verinag areas of District Anantnag in which 744 patients attended the camps.
