Srinagar: Medical superintendent of district hospital Shopian was on Tuesday charged for failing to act against the owner of a fair price medical shop running illegally in the hospital premises.
According to an order issued by the District Administration the Deputy Commissioner Shopian attached the concerned MS with his office over his failure to act against the owner of a fair price medical shop.
Deputy Commissioner Shopian also ordered the constitution of 4-member committee headed by ADC Shopian with CMO, Accounts Officer DC office Shopian and district litigation officer as its members.
The committee has been asked to submit the report within 15 days.
As per the order the shop was allotted to Amir Medical Store in 2012 for five years till 2017, and despite completion of contract term the said medical superintendent nor his predecessors have even bothered to serve a single eviction notice till date, but have been rather allowed running of the shop illegally and unauthorisedly beyond expiry period.
The failure of the officer to meet the expectations of his role as MS has been documented on several occasions, however, despite efforts, he failed to improve and this has had a negative impact on the quality of patient care and management of financial affairs of the institute.
“The negligence of the officer in management of hospital resources has resulted in a significant financial loss to the state exchequer. In the circumstantial background, due to his failure to perform duties, pending enquiry into the conduct and performance, MS Shopian Khalid Abass is hereby attached with this office,” it reads.
The order states the deputy chief medical officer Shopian shall discharge the functions of Medical superintendent DH Shopian till further orders
