Srinagar: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested 9 persons in Budgam and Baramulla districts for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and also seized nine vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Chadoora at a checkpoint established at Magraypora Bapora intercepted six vehicles (Dumpers) carrying illegally extracted minerals and also seized all the vehicles and the drivers too were arrested.
Stating that the accused persons have been identified as Anayatullah Khan R/o Ladoo Khrew, Abdul Qayoom Wani R/o Batapora Ladoo, Abid Mushtaq Lone R/o Shar-Shali Pampore, Arfat Ashraf Khanday R/o Mage Pampore, Aejaz Ahmad Ganai R/o Ladoo Pampore and Mushtaq Ahmad Kumar R/o Ladoo Pampore, Police in it’s statement further said that at another checkpoint established at Bugroo Khansahib, a police party of Police Station Khansahib intercepted a tractor carrying illegally extracted minerals from Nalla Shali-Ganga and seized it besides arresting the driver, Stating therein further that the accused has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmed Bhat R/o Shamasabad Khansahib.
Stating that in another similar action, a police party of PP Kungamdara during patrolling at Khore Sherabad seized 1 Tipper & 1 Tractor for illegally extraction & transportation of minerals, Police in it’s statement further said that the accused drivers identified as Ajaz Ahmad Wani R/o Khore Sherabad & Manzoor Ahmad Teli R/o Bungam Kunzer has been arrested, Stating therein further that all the accused drivers have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Police in it’s statement also that cases were also registered under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
