Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam district and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here Police said that a Police party led by SHO Police Station Kulgam under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Kulgam Ghulam Muhammad Bhat during routine naka checking at Bogund Kulgam intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully following which around 1Kg of Charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Majaz Ahmad Dar @Boya S/O Manzoor Ahmad Dar R/O Bogund.
Stating the above named accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 15/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been taken up.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law and reassured the people about it’s commitments on making society free from the scourge of drug menace.
