2-drug peddlers held in Pulwama, Baramulla, contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested 2 drug peddlers in Pulwama and Baramulla districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Pulwama district Police Station Litter received specific inputs through reliable sources about one Shakeel Ahmad Ganai S/O Ab Gani R/O Tumlihaal Pulwama having indulged in drug peddling and hoarded narcotic substances in his residential house, Stating therein further that on receiving inputs a Police party of PS Litter alongwith Magistrate raided the specific location and during searches recovered 2 bags containing 10.5 kgs of cannabis powder from the said residential house. Police in it’s statement further said that the above named accused person involved in the commission of crime was arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in a similar action in Baramulla district, a police party of Police StationUri under the supervision of SDPO Uri Showkat Ali during patrolling at Uri Market, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05B-7267 at Bus stand Uri driven by Ghulam Rasool Malik S/O Abdul Gaffar Malik R/O Salamabad Uri and during searches recovered 260 grams of Charas and cash amount of Rs 17,400/- (proceeds of narcotics) was recovered, Police in it’s statement furthermore said that the above named accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. Police in it’s statement also said that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations & investigations have been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police appealed people tocome forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Police on this occasion also reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law and reassured people about it’s commitment to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
