Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam and Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police HeadquartersSrinagar Police said that a police party of PS Qazigund under the supervision of SHO PS Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Dalwach Crossing intercepted two suspected person identified as Maqsood Ahmad Naikoo son of Sanaullah Naikoo R/O Nussu Qazigund and Fayaz Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Shafi Dar R/O Tachloo Qaimoh, Stating therein further that during checking 220 grams of Charas and 3 grams of Heroin were recovered from their possession and the accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police also said that in a similar action in Baramulla district also, a police party of PS Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Khaipora Crossing arrested a drug peddler who was identified as Ab Rehman Dar S/O Late Lassa Dar resident of Nadirgund Khaipora Tangmarg, Stating therein further that during checking, 180 grams of Charas was recovered from the possession of the above named accused.
Stating that in yet another smilaraction, a police party of PP Mirgund at a checkpoint established at Mirgund Crossing Pattan, arrested a drug peddler and identified him as Manzoor Ahmad Ganie S/O Gh Mohammad R/O Sozeth Lawaypora following which120 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession, Police in it’s statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that perople found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law and assured strict actions against the involved person/s.
