8 drug peddlers arrested across Kashmir Divn, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested 8 drug peddlers across Kashmir and have also recovered contraband substances from them.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Boniyar arrested a lady drug peddler identified as Rubeena Begum wife of Jahangir Ahmad resident of Chandanwari Uri and during searches recovered 10 grams of brown sugar from her possession, Stating therein further that during preliminary investigation, it has come to fore that the said lady drug peddler was involved in selling contraband among the youth of the area.
Stating that in a similar action in Pulwama also, a police party of PS Litter at a checkpoint established near Govt Higher Secondary School Litter, intercepted an Auto (Load Carrier) bearing registration number JK13G-7307 with four persons including a lady on board and identified them as Tauseef Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai resident of Chotipora Pulwama, Junaid Ahmad Malik son of Gh Mohd Malik resident of Rangmulla Pulwama, Tahir Ahmad Joo son of Nazir Ahmad Joo resident of Khonmoh and Suraya Jeelani daughter of Gh Jeelani Shah resident of Bagaat Barzulla A/P Rawalpora Sgr, Police in it’s statement further said that during searches 5 grams of Brown Sugar and 350 grams of Charas were recovered from the possession of the above named accused who have been arrested and the Auto Rickshaw used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Police in it’s statement also that a Police party of PS DH Pora at a checkpoint established at Samnoo, Rambhama arrested a drug peddler identified as Ghulam Nabi Lone son of Ghulam Mohd Lone resident of Rambhama and during checking, 11 kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in a nylon bag was recovered.
Stating that in yet another similar action, a Police party of PS Kund at a checkpoint established at Batingoo Kund intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03E-3141 driven by Ghulam Nabi Wagay son of Ghulam Ahmad Wagay resident of Gandipora, Devsar , Police in it’s statement furthermore said that during searches 165 grams of Charas was recovered from the possession of the above named accused who was arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
“In Handwara also, a police party of PS Kralgund during patrolling at Ganapora arrested a drug peddler identified as Muzafar Ahmad Dentu son of Abdul Aziz resident of Malbagh and during searches 1.5 kgs of Charas was recovered from his possession”, reads the above referred police statement, adding that “subsequently registered cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations have been and investigations have been also initiated”.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police on this occasion also said that its consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to reassure the people about the initiative taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
