Drug peddler held in Kupwara, Contraband Substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler and also recovered contraband substance from his possession in Kupwara.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here Police said that while acting on specific inputs about hoarding of narcotic substances by one person namely Fareed Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ab Rehman Sheikh R/o Hajitra Taad at his residential house a police party alongwith Executive Magistrate Ist class Tangdhar raided the said house and upon searches recovered 580 grams of Heroin like narcotics substance ., Stating therein further that the accused person has arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s above referred statement also said that a case vide FIR No 06/2023 under relevant sections of law gas been registered at PS Karnah and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, reiterating therein that efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
