Drug peddler held in Sopore, Contraband substance also recovered from his possession: Police

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and also recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar Police said a police party of Police Post Warpora under the supervision of SDPO Sopore at a naka checkpoint established at T-crossing intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number DL4CAP-8747 and during searches recovered 35grams of brown sugar like substance and 20 Bits of brown sugar ready for sale from the driver namely Ashiq Ahmad War @AshiqLalaS/o Ali Muhammad War R/o Raj Mohalla Warpora Sopore who was later arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 273/2022 was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above referred statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, Stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken as part of the efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
