Secy DMMR Nazim Zia visits Central Training Institute Kot Bhalwal Jammu

Jammu: Secretary, DMMR (Disaster Management -Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction J&K) Nazim Zai Khan, alongwith SSP Randheer Singh I/C Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn and Dr. Priya Badyal Chief Account Officer (Administrative officer, Relief FCR J&K) on Tuesday visited Central Training Institute ,Kot Bhalwal Jammu .
According to a statement issued from J&K Police Headquarters the Commandant SDRF in his welcome address highlighted the role of NDMA, SDMA, DMRRR in the Centrally Sponsored -“Upscaling of Aapda Mitra scheme” and also threw light on importance of the Community as first responders to any such situation. It was also highlighted that SDRF 2nd Bn has been mandated for this training , and till date 589 volunteers in 6 batches have been trained who were nominated from different districts of Jammu Province . This 12 days in-house training aims to empower the community volunteers with skills they would need to respond to their community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of disaster thereby enabling them to undertake basic relief and rescue tasks during emergency situations and are accordingly sensitized on different aspects of disaster management by resource persons from SDRF, experts from Fire & Emergency Services department, Mountain Rescue Teams of JKP etc. During the course of training the volunteers also visit Fire Service HQ, SDRF HQ, MRT HQ. in samba for mountain rescue and also river Chenab at Akhnoor for water rescue training.
Secretary, DMRRR J&K, while speaking on the occasion highlighted the significance of this training as a proactive approach for disaster management. Further, elaborating he said that overall focus of this programme is on recognising the community as an important stakeholder, strengthening its involvement and reinforcing the bond between the district authorities and the community for a more effective and robust Disaster Management program. Also, that they have to play an important and responsible role in the disaster management in their respective areas. Interacting with staff and the volunteers, he congratulated them for their proactive approach in getting trained and lauded the demonstrations on CPR , MRT and First Aid presented by them today, he also discussed the training schedule and took stock of the training arrangements and facilities . The officer was highly appreciative of the training imparted and the facilities being provided to the Aapda Mitra volunteers at this institute.The visiting officers and volunteers later also planted trees on this occasion for the beautification of this campus.
Principal CTI, Dy.SP Ashok Sharma presented the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and participants. The other officers present on this occasion were Naseema Akhter Dy.SP SO to DIG HG/CD Jammu, Anita Pawar, Dy.SP, Dy. Controller Civil Defence Jammu, Rajesh Kumar, Dy.SP, Area Commandant Homeguards Jammu, Mohinder Pal, Dy.SP, SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu, Inspr. Sanjeev Kalsi, Inspr. Sunil Shama, Inspr. Vishal Dubey, Sgct. Kuldeep Singh (Instructor) and Sgct. Aman Singh (Instructor).
