Sunil Sharma announces slew of welfare measures for JKSRTC employees

Srinagar: The Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge), Sunil Kumar Sharma announced a slew of welfare measures for Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation employees during the 2nd JKSRTC Delegates Conference which he presided over here Saturday.

The Conference was organized to interact with the workers of the Corporation and listen to their grievances.

While lauding the role of the Corporation, the Minister emphasized upon the workers to make constant efforts to improve the working to strengthen the Corporation.

Responding to the various demands projected by the workers of JKSRTC including Government Transport Undertakings (GTU), Sharma assured them that all of their genuine demands shall be taken care of provided the revenue generation is increased through joint efforts of the workers, officials and officers of the Corporation.

He announced various measures which the Government has undertaken for the welfare of the employees of the JKSRTC. He said 65 consolidated employees of the Corporation would be regularized on case to case basis.  He also announced 10% DA for the Workers besides distribution of pension in favour of the dependent family members of deceased employees out of Employees Welfare Fund.

The Minister also handed over the pension/ ex-gratia cheques to widows of the deceased employees. He also announced introduction of Insurance Scheme for consolidated employees of JKSRTC, transfer of Rs 10 lakh to Employees Welfare Fund as per approval of Board of Directors, and Ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh in favor of the deceased employees out of welfare fund scheme.

Later, the Minister gave away trophies and citation certificates to the retired workers of the Corporation.

Vice Chairman, JKSRTC, Haji Parvaiz Ahmed, Managing Director, JKSRTC, Mir Afroz, Joint Managing Director, JKSRTC Suhail Ahmed Khan, Senior Officers of JKSRTC and a large number of workers of JKSRTC attended the conference.
