Jammu : One Executive Engineer (Xen) and one Superintending Engineer (SE) working in Roads and Building (R&B) department are among the four employees killed on Monday after a vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a gorge near Chenab river at Assar area of Doda district. Meanwhile Advisor to Lt Governor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar and Chief Secretary A K Mehta have in their separate statement condoled the deaths and conveyed their sympathies to the bereaved families.
Officials said that an official vehicle of the department was on way towards Doda when it plunged into a gorge at Assar in which four employees including Superintendent Engineer of Public Works Department in Doda Kishtwar circle, Executive Engineer of department Doda, an Assistant Executive Engineer and driver were on board.
“Superintendent Engineer was rescued from the site of the accident in critical condition and is being taken to Government Medical College Doda while three other employees of the department died on the spot,” they said.

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar and Chief Secretary Dr A K Mehta have in their separate statements condoled the sad demise of officials of R&B department Expressing his condolences, Advisor to Lt Governor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar said that the officials were dedicated to towards their works and performed their duties diligently and honestly. He expressed deep sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. The Advisor also prayed for the speedy recovery of Superintending Engineer who was seriously injured in this unfortunate accident. He directed the health authorities to provide best possible medical treatment to the injured officer.
Condoling the deaths Chief Secretary Dr A K Mehta said that it was a matter of great sorrow and disbelief and all the officers have felt shocked at the unfortunate deaths of the officers and officials of R&B Department. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and said that every possible assistance shall be provided to the bereaved family. He also wished speedy recovery to the Superintending Engineer, Suresh Kumar who sustained serious injuries in the accident. He prayed to the Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed souls.
