Day-long Awareness prog organized by DHEW-MS B’gam

Budgam :  The District Hub for Empowerment of Women-Mission Shakti Budgam (DHEW-MS) on Monday organized a daylong legal awareness programme titled “Towards Empowering Women” sponsored by National Commission for Women in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam at JJB Hall Budgam

Speaking at the event, District Mission Coordinator, Afroza Bhat raised awareness among the participants about the overall working of DHEW-MS in the district and stressed on the services provided by WHL 181 and Sakhi One Stop Centre Budgam.

She also highlighted the achievements made by DHEW-MS in the past year, the means and ways adopted by DHEW-MS to help the Women in distress, victims of Domestic Violence, harassment at home as well as at workplace. Further, she highlighted the importance of the only Shelter Home for Women in District Budgam.

Gender Specialist, Masroofa Majeed Spoke on Women Empowerment, means and ways that have been adopted by Central Government and State/U.T Govts time and again.

Gender Specialist, Asifa Manzoor informed participants about various Women Centric Scheme, Skill Development Courses and aspects of Legal Services and threw light on the Domestic Violence Act 2005.

Speaking at the event, Nelofar, a Social Worker appointed as Resource Person by DHEW-MS enlightened the participants regarding various legal aspects of Domestic Violence, Harassment, Eve-teasing, Cyber-bullying, etc.

LCPO-Advocate, Mehvish Tabassum, Resource Person highlighted the Legal Rights of Women Folk and Prevention, Elimination of violence against Women and Girls. She also raised awareness among the participants about various Rights guaranteed to the females by the Constitution of India to safeguard their honor and dignity.

Continuing the programme, PLV Nisar Ahmad highlighted the Role of Para-Legal volunteers, Legal Aid Clinics, Services available for women folk at DLSAs of J&K & other parts of Country.

The Programme was attended by District Mission Coordinator DHEW-MS, LCPO-Advocate Mehvish Tabassum, Gender Specialist Masroofa Majeed and Asifa Manzoor Social worker of Special Cell for Women Chadoora Nelofar Nazir and Asiya Jan along with the female Representatives from different Blocks of Budgam, Members of CWC, and DCPU Staff.
