Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested one person on charges of involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Budgam and also seized 3 vehicles in this connection.
in a Statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar, Police said that while acting on inputs about the illegal extraction of soil/ boulders from Nallah Sukhnag at Ohnagam, a police party of Police Station Beerwah raided the specific location and seized three vehicles (Tractors) and arrested one person on charges of his involvement, Stating therein further that the arrested accused person has been identified as Safeer Ahmad TeliS/o Mohammad SabirTeliR/o Ohnagam.
Stating that police later on accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 148/2022 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been taken up, Police in it’s statement further said that efforts are on to arrest the other two absconding accused persons who managed to escape from the spot.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, police said that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
