5 drug peddlers booked under PSA in B’gam : Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has booked five drug peddlers under Public Safety Act (PSA) after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.

In a Statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar, Police said that five drug peddlers  have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Rather S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Rather R/o Kaisermullah Chadoora Budgam, Mohmmad Ashraf Kumar S/o Abdul Gaffar Kumar R/o Yarikha Khansahib Budgam, Mohmmad Altaf Latoo S/o Mohammad Amin Latoo R/o Dafpora, Nasrullahpora Budgam, Ghulam Qadir Malik S/o Ghulam Mohammad Malik R/o Shunglipora Khag, Budgam and Aadil Ahmad PandithS/o Late Farooq Ahmad PandithR/o MazhamaMagam, Budgam.

Stating that the above named drug peddlers were involved in 12 NDPS cases registered in various Police Stations of the district and were promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of District Budgam, Police in it’s statement further said that despite their involvement in many FIRs, the said  drug peddlers did not mend their activities and were again promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth in various areas of District Budgam.

“Cases were duly processed and after obtaining sanctions from the competent authority”, reads the above referred Police statement, adding that “ the arrested drug peddlers were detained under Public Safety Act and lodged in Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu”.

Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that it’s consistent actions against drug peddlers are parts of the efforts made to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
