Srinagar : Police in Budgam on Thursday organized ‘Thana Diwas’ at Police Post Humhama, Police Station Charar-I-Sharief and Police Station Magam. Besides, Police in Pulwama observed Thana Diwas at all Police Stations of the district.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Sgr, police said that the meeting was held at the Police Post Humhama and was chaired by ASP Budgam Gowhar Ahmed, Dy SP Hqrs Naeem Wani along with SHO PS Budgam and I/C PP Humhama. While as in Police Station Charar-I-Sharief, the meeting was chaired by SHO PS Charar-I-Sharief Insp. Muneer Ahmed. Similarly, at Police Station Magam, Thana Diwas meeting was chaired by SHO PS Magam Insp. Yasir Rasheed. These meetings were attended by respectable citizens, Traders federation and transporters, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Auqaf committee members and other respectable citizens of these areas.
Similarly, in Pulwama, Police on Thursday also observed Thana Diwas at all Police Stations including Police Station Pulwama, Police Station Kakapora, Police Station Rajpora & Police Station Litter of the district. The programme was chaired by concerned supervisory officers. The meetings were attended by respectable citizens, members of Auqaf Committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Traders Federation and Transporters of respective areas.
During these meetings, participants highlighted various grievances/issues of public importance. They were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and grievances pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with the concerned Departments for their early redressal.
Speaking on this occasions, the chairing officers reiterated that the main aim of organising ‘Thana Diwas’ is to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in Policing at grass-root level and to hear grievances of general public, besides seek support and active cooperation in maintaining L&O, curbing drug menace and others social evils in the areas.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement, the participants were also stressed to co-operate with Police in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment in the district. During these meetings, the cooperation of general public in eradication of drug abuse, social crimes etc were also sought. The participants appreciated the gesture of Police and assured their cooperation in eradication of social evils from the district. They also lauded the role of Police for conducting such interactive meetings which further boost Community Policing and Public confidence.
