Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters a police party led by In-charge Police Post Reshipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti intercepted a suspicious person at a special checkpoint established at Lidermarh crossing and during searches recovered 1.3Kgs of grinded cannabis from his possession following which he was identified as Fayaz Ahmad Dar S/o Assadullah Dar R/o Ladermar Pulwama.
Stating that the said suspect has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that a case under FIR No. 224/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation initiated.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated its stand to act tough against the people found indulging in drug peddling.
