Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said it has arrested two persons for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Budgam and also seized 2 vehicles in this connection.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Police said that a police party from Police Post Hardipanzoo Beerwah at a checkpoint established at Wacho Crossing intercepted two tippers bearing registration numbers JK02Q-8971 and JK03A-1808 loaded with illegally extracted soil and both the vehicles were seized and drivers stand identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh and Mudasir Ahmed Baba S/o Mohammad Yousuf Baba, both residents of Muqaam Waterihail who have been also arrested.
“The police later on accordingly registered a case videunder FIR No. 147/2022 in a relevant sections of law in Police Station Beerwah and further investigation has been initiated”, reads the above referred police statement.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, Police reiterated it’s firmness towards the persons found indulging in illegal mining activities and said that that such persons shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
