Srinagar : In order to spread awareness about Cyber crimes among the common masses, Police in Ganderbal on Thursday organised Cyber Crime Awareness Programme at Police Station Safapora. The event was chaired Dy SP Hqrs Ganderbal Gh Hassan accompanied by SHO PS Safapora besides, other officers were also present on the occasion.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters J&K, the participants included respectable citizens, youth and students of District Ganderbal were briefed about various types of cyber threats/crimes such as identity theft, credit card fraud, data stealing, cyber stalking, Pornography, OTP frauds etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Dy SP Hqrs Ganderbal advised the participants to adopt safe browsing habits, to avoid suspicious websites while surfing the internet. He also appealed the participants to not share OTPs or Bank account details and passwords. The officers also explained the ways to adopt precautionary measures while conducting Internet Banking and online transactions. The Participants were also cautioned against accepting friend requests from unknown persons or chatting with unknown persons on social media.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement, the participants appreciated the efforts of Police for organising Cyber awareness programme and spreading awareness about various cyber crimes among the common masses.
