Srinagar : Chairman J&K People’s Democratic Front ( JKPDF ) and Former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has demanded adequate arrangements for celebrating Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) also known as Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday, or Mawlid , with religious fervor and festivity .
In a statement issued on Wednesday Hakeem while greeting people on the eve of Eid Milad-un- Nabi , has called for adequate arrangements to facilitate people especially muslim ummah to celebrate the holly birthday day of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) without any difficulty . He has also demanded adequate transport facilities for smooth travel of devotees to Dargah Hazratbal and their return journey to their homes during the ongoing Milad days . “Adequate lighting and sanitation arrangements need to be made not only at Dargah Sharief Hazratbal, but also at all the major Khangahs and mosques across Jammu and Kashmir including historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar ” Hakeem added.
PDF Chairman has made a fervent appeal to the people to conduct special prayers for return of permanent peace and prosperity in the turmoil hit Jammu and Kashmir. Hakeem has also sought personal intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to solve the burning problems confronting Fruit growers of Kashmir due to continuous disruption of fruit laden trucks on J&K highway . He said halting of fruit laden trucks on J&K Highway causes ripening of the perishable fruit especially apple and pear , which causing heavy huge losses to the fruit growers . He demanded emergency measures for un-interrupted transportation of the fresh fruit from Kashmir to other fruit mandis of the country adding that horticulture sector was the mainstay of JK’s economy which provides livelihood to about 30 lakh people associated with the fruit trade directly or indirectly . He has called for exploring Air Dacota service for airlifting perishable fruit on subsidised rates from Kashmir to other fruit mandis of the country ,till condition of J&K Highway is improved.
