DC Kishtwar receives Shanti Yatra in commemoration of forthcoming M K Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary

Kishtwar : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav on Friday received a Shanti March and “Shanti Chinh” Symbol in presence of other senior officers of district Administration here.
ADDC Sham Lal, CEO Kishtwar Sudarshan Sharma, DSWO Zubair Ahmed, CAHO Dr Sanjay sen, President Municipal Council, Municipal councillors, prominent persons and senior citizens,scores of students from govt and private schools and and staff of Education and other Departments participated in large numbers.
The event was organised in view of the 153rd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi being celebrated as Gandhi Mahotsav across the J&K.
The Shanti March is organised to spread the message of Mahatma Gandhi to all, more specifically with regard to the Gandhian philosophy of truth and non-violence.
The Shanti March started from Teacher Bahavan Jammu where R R Bhatnagar Advisor flagged off Yatra and reached Kishtwar today after passing through various districts.
Earlier,in the morning Shanti Chinh was received from District Incharge Cultural Cell (School Education Department) Doda at Thatri Model check Nakah by SSP Kishtwar Sh Shafqat Hussain Batt in presence of CEO Kishtwar Sudarshan Kumar Sharma, I/C cultural Cell (DSE) Kishtwar Awani Sen besides Zonal Education Staff of Drabshalla and school Students among others.
The Chief Education Officer Kishtwar handed over the Shanti Chinh to the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar after passing through various Govt and private schools of Zone Kishtwar including Model Hr Sec Schools and private schools of Town Kishtwar.
On the occasion, a grand event was organised here in DC Office complex Kishtwar wherein Skits besides Cultural items on Swatch Bharat,Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan and Gandhian philosophy of Truth & Non-violence were performed by School students and local artists of Nagseni.
Besides speeches on Gandhian philosophy of truth and non violance were made by representatives of various socio-religious organisation and Senior officers of District Administration and Students.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC Kishtwar said that the Shanti Yatra is aimed to popularize the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi with regard to peace and universal brotherhood among the students, which is the need of the hour.
He urged the students and masses to follow the teachings of Gandhi ji in their personal and social life that will be true commemoration on his birth anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion the DC also said that District administrations Kishtwar in coordination with citizen are going to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October with great enthusiasm and zeal this year.He also commended the Education department for organising Shanti Yatra.
Meanwhile, CEO briefed about the event and said that this programme is being organised across the educational institutions which is aimed at familiarizing the students as well as the masses about the teachings of the Father of Nation. He said the education department is conducting an array of activities under the said programme.
Pertinent to mention that the Shanti Yatra is returning back to Jammu on tomorrow.
