Rajour:  District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, along with a team of officers on Saturday inspected the progress of work on several developmental projects in BindiJamola

BDC Dhangri, TazeemAkhter; CPO Mohammad Khurshid; EXEnJal Shakti Rajouri, Mushtaq Ahmed; AD Fisheries, Munesh Sharma, and other concerned officers, accompanied the DDC.

During his first leg of the tour, the District Development Commissioner inspected the newly created fish farm at Bindi  where stocking of 500 fingerlings of silver carp fish was carried out. In addition, the DDC also stocked 5000 fingerlings of Indian Major Carp in the local stream.

Interacting with the beneficiaries at Bindi, the DDC said that with the abundant natural water resources, the district has a vast potential of the fisheries sector and asked the concerned officer to promote it as one of the lucrative self-employment options.

“To give a fillip to fish breeding in the district, the Department of Fisheries should take regular management measures of natural water resources by augmenting them with quality, disease-resistant varieties of fish seeds,” he suggested.

While elaborating on the role and responsibilities of the fisheries department, the DDC stated that the Department of Fisheries cares not only about the development of Fisheries in natural water bodies, the private sector, and community water resources but also undertakes measures for the development of Mahigir Community by way of providing Low-Cost Houses, and other benefits to the community.

He further informed that the fisheries department, in collaboration with the RDD has also started stocking fingerlings/seeds at community ponds constructed by the RDD Department. As a result, 2000 fingerlings were handed over to the beneficiaries during the event.

While taking stock of Water Supply Scheme Badhoon-B, the ExEnJal Shakti Rajouri informed that the scheme has been approved at an estimated cost of Rs 1103.60 Lakh under JalJeevan Mission. It was also informed that about 478 souls would benefit from the project.

The DDC asked the concerned officers to ensure that the work on the scheme is started at the earliest so that necessary benefits are provided to the general public.

He further asked to bring in his notice bottlenecks, if any, impeding the execution of works so that the same can be resolved in the larger public interest.
