Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Handwara and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar a Police party of PS Vilgam at a checkpoint established at Sonmulla crossing arrested two drug peddlers identified as Shabir Ahmad Lone S/o Mohd Akbar R/o Budnambal Chowkibal and Shakeel Ahmad Mir S/o Abdul Rashid R/o Zunreshi Chowkibal.
Stating that during search operation, the officers recovered 10 grams of Brown Sugar from their possession, Police in it’s statement further said that the culprits have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Police in it’s above referred statement also said that Police later on registered a case vide FIR No. 102/2022 under relevant sections of law in Police Station Vilgam and initiated a further course of investigation to ascertain the facts on ground.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, police assured strict actions against drug peddlers and reiterated it’s commitment to make strenuous efforts to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace
