3 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam;, contraband substance recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, police said that a police party of Police Station Yaripora led by SHO PS Yaripora during surprise naka checking at Badroo, Yaripora intercepted a vehicle (Alto) bearing registration number JK15-2063 with two persons on board.

Stating that during searches 10 grams of Brown sugar was recovered from the possession of the above named accused identified as Sajad Ahmad Baghat son of Ghulam Hassan Baghat and his wife both residents of Kokergund, Yaripora, Police in it’s statemrent further said that the said accused have been arrested and shifted to PS Yaripora and Women Cell Kulgam where they remain in custody, Stating therein further that the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Police in it’s statement also said “ earlier Police Station Behi Bagh had received inputs about one person namely Ghulam Hassan Malik S/O Ghulam Rasool Malik R/O KheeJogipora having indulged in drug peddling and hoarded a large quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house”. Stating that on receiving inputs a police party from Police Station Behibagh along with Executive Magistrate concerned raided the said location and recover 14kgs of Poppy Straw from the said house , Police in it’s statement further more said that the said  accused person was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody, Stating therein further that police later on registered a case under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated to ascertain the facts.

In the concluding para of the above referred statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood so that the persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
