4 arrested for Illegal extraction &  transportation of minerals in B’gam, 4 vehicles also seized: Police

Srinagar :  Acting tough against the elements involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police in Budgam on Thursday arrested 04 persons and seized 04 vehicles involved in the commission of crime.

According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, the Police Station Khag received an information about illegal extraction & transportation of minerals at Drung area of Budgam. Accordingly, a police party of Police Station Khag raided the specific location and seized 04 vehicles (03 Tractors, 01 tipper) & arrested 04 drivers on spot with illegally extracted Bajri/boulders. The drivers have been identified as Nazir Ahmed Naik resident of KokarbaghKhag, Ajaz Ahmed Dar resident of Drung, Shayar Ahmed Mir resident of Kupwara & Mudasir Ahmed Rather resident of CharharaKhag. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Later on the police registered a case vide FIR No. 51/2022 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Khag and investigation set into motion.

In a concluding para of the above referred statement police further said that the persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and requested people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
