She was addressing the participants, while flagging off a massive anti drugs rally organized by ICDS Project Majalta attended by  Anganwari workers, helpers, PRIs, students and locals.

“The women as a mother, as a wife and as a sister are most affected whenever somebody in the family falls prey to the drug menace. We need to collectively and synergistically act as ‘agents of change’ and ensure that people especially young people do not fall prey to such menace” she said and added that Youth are national wealth, and this national wealth should be carefully nurtured and ward away from vices.

Haqeeqat Singh, CDPO Majalta, Ramesh Gupta SarpanchKhoon ,ManojVermaSarpanchBilaspur, Namrata Bali, Bikram Singh, Ved Sharma and scores of PRIs also sensitised the people on issues like this.

Later, the DDC Vice Chairperson chaired Block Diwas meeting at Community Hall Dhema to have a grassroots level overview of day to day issues of the area. She listened to issues and demands of several PRIs as well as visiting delegations at Block Development Office Khoon, Officers of different departments and PRIs also participated in the Block Diwas.

Amongst projected issues  were provision of adequate staff in educational and health institutions, meeting paucity of drinking water supply in different Panchayats, infrastructure amenities  including construction of Khoon to Neldi road, damaged road from Deot to Upper Bilaspur, drainage problem alongside Thial to Dhemma, early clearing of pending liabilities under MGNREGA, start of works under/FC demand for electric poles,  water supply installation of transformers to resolve the problem of Low voltage, improvement of Mobile connectivity, speedy execution of proposed PMGSY and PWD roads , repair of hand pumps, etc.

After giving a patient hearing to the public demands, MrsPathania passed on the spot directions for redressal of the grievances at an earliest.

She asked the officers to take first hand appraisal of all the grievances of PRIs and redress the same on priority and to document the grievances of their respective departments and furnish the action taken reports to her office. She called upon all the officers of different departments to organize awareness camps in their respective areas to inform the general public about various government schemes so that they can avail maximum benefits of these schemes. She vouched for a productive and people friendly approach of the officers. “The new concept of Panchayati Raj in J&K enunciated by ModiSarkar has heralded a new revolution and scripted a new chapter in the field of local self government” she added.

She was critical of officers who have absented despite notice in Wednesday’s block diwas proceedings. She asked BDO Khoon to prepare a note for submission to higher ups as to why PWD, Irrigation & Flood control Deptt,  PHE (mechanical) Deptt, ZEO Majalta, TSO Majalta were not present.
