8 arrested for Illegal extraction &  transportation of minerals, 9 vehicles seized in B’gam: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested eight person on charges of involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of mineral in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district and  also seized niner vehicles involved in the commission of crime.

In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters police said that the Police Station Beerwah after receiving inputs about illegal extraction & transportation of minerals at Harda-Malpora Beerwah and Nalla Sukhnag a police party from Police Station Beerwah conducted raids on specific locations and seized seven vehicles  including three tippers, two JCBs and two tractors loaded with illegally extracted Sand and Bajri and also  arrested seven accused on the spot. Police in it’s statement further said that two Santro vehicles used to monitor police movement were also seized & a driver too was arrested.

Stating that the drivers too were arrested and identified as Zubair Ahmed Wani R/O Goripora, Shakir Ahmed War R/O  Khanihama, Ghulam Hassan Ganie R/O Beerwah, Shafiqat Ali R/O Sehipora Magam, Muzzafar Ahmed Malik R/O Kahdi Banihal, Showkat Ahmed Manto R/O Sitharan, Imran Ahmed Tantray R/O Utligam and Danish Hussain Mir R/O Haygam, Police in the above referred statement said that all the above named accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Police in it’s above referred statement also a case vide FIR No.s 126/2022 & 127/2022 under relevant sections of law has also been registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation too has been set into motion to ascertain the facts on ground.

In a concluding para of the above referred statement, police said that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Police in it’s above quoted statement also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
