10 accused arrested for Illegal extraction, transportation of minerals in G’bal, 10 vehicles seized : Police

Srinagar : Police in Ganderbal on Friday arrested 10 persons and seized 10 vehicles involved in the commission of crime.

According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, police said that on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, special teams of Police was constituted under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Ganderbal and SDPO Kangan, headed by SHOs of various Police Stations after following information of illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the district. These special police teams seized 10 vehicles (06 Tippers bearing registration numbers JK04D-0153, JK01F-5898, JK04B-7284, JK03A-2995, JK16-2502, JK01M-9478 and 04 Tractors) loaded with illegally extracted minerals from Nallah Sindh Ganderbal.

The 10 accused drivers involved in the commission of crime have also been arrested. They have been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar resident of Nunner, Fayaz Ahmad Dar resident of Arch, Abid Ahmad Mir resident of Beehama, Javid Ahmad Dar resident of Waheedpora, Ravees Ahmad Bhat resident of Khurhama, Farooq Ahmad Chopan resident of Kachnambal Kangan, Waheed Ahmad Dar resident of Watal bagh Lar, Suheel Ahmad Malik resident of BenhamaLar, Irfan Ahmed Chopan& Sabzar Nabi Bhat, both residents of Prang Kangan.

Later on, the police registered as case under relevant sections of law at PS Ganderbal, PS Kheerbawani, PS Kangan and PS Lar and further investigation has been taken up.

In a concluding para of the above referred statement, police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law but appealed people  to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
