Srinagar : Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal trade of endangered medicinal herbs, Police in Handwara on Thursday arrested two accused persons and recovered endangered medicinal herbs from their possession.
In a statement issued from the Zonal Police Headquarters here Police said that a police party of Border Police Post Bungus during patrolling at Dhani Bhak Bungus intercepted two persons in a suspicious manner who tried to flee away from the spot but were apprehended tactfully and identified as Aamir Hussain Sheikh son of Khak Hussain Sheikh, Sadiq Ahmad Khandil S/O Mohd Ashraf Khandil both residents of New Gabra Kernah, Stating therein further that both the accused were travelling with horses laden with bags.
Stating that during search of the bags, around 2kgs of endangered medicinal herbs (SaussureaCostus) was recovered from the possession of the above named accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that a case vide FIR No.58/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qalamabad and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, Police resolved to act tough against individuals involved in any illegal trade and other criminal activities.
