Srinagar :As a part of public outreach programme and an initiative by Government of J&K, Police on Thursday organised Thana Diwas in Ganderbal and Kulgam.
According to the statement issued by the Zonal Police Headquarters, here, Police in Ganderbal have organised Thana Diwas at Police Station Lar, PS Kangan and PS Gund. The meetings were chaired by SDPO KanganShriYasirQadri-JKPS and DySP Headquarters GanderbalShriGhulam Hassan-JKPS under the directions of SSP GanderbalShri Nikhil Borkar-IPS. Respectable citizens, civil societies of concerned areas including and were also attended by officers of Civil Department.
Meanwhile, Police in Kulgam, organised ‘Thana Divas’ at PS Kulgam, PS Devsar, PS Manzgam and PS Kund. These meetings were chaired by respective jurisdictional Police officers in which Sarpanchs, Panchs, Respectable citizens, civil societies of concerned areas including members of Auqaf Committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Traders Federation and Transporters of respective areas participated.
During these events, participants highlighted various grievances/issues of public importance. They were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and grievances pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with the concerned Departments for their early redressal.
On the occasions,While speakingthe chairing officers reiterated that the main aim of organising ‘Thana Diwas’ is to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in Policing at grass-root level and to hear grievances of general public, besides seek support and active cooperation in maintaining L&O, curbing drug menace and others social evils in the areas.
According to the concluding para of the above referred statement, the participants were also stressed uptoto co-operate with Police in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment in the district. The participants appreciated the role of Police for conducting such interactive meetings which further boost Community Policing and Public confidence.
