Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that four drug peddlers have been arrested Handwara and recovered contraband substances have also been recovered from their possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said that aPolice party of Police Station Vilgam at a checkpoint established at Champora Crossing intercepted three persons in suspicious condition and during searches recovered 80 grams of Charas like substance from their possession.
Stating that the said drug peddlers have been identified as Waseem Ahmad Mochi son of Ab Razak resident of Kralpora Khargund, Mohd Sultan Hajam son of Gh Qadir resident of Sherkoot and Talib Ahmad Sheikh son of Farooq Ahmad resident of Amargad, police in it’s statement said that the said drug peddler after their identification were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police also said that in another similar action action a police party of Police Station Vilgam at a checkpoint established near Dolipora arrested a drug peddler identified as Aijaz Ahmad Mochi son of Ab Khaliq resident of Taratpora, Stating therein further thatduring checking, 70 grams of charas like substance were recovered from his possession following which he was shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Vilgam and investigation has been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police in it’s statement also reiterated that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken as part of the efforts made to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
