Srinagar: At least five back to back funeral prayers were offered for Hizbul Mujhadeen senior commander Muhammad Yaseen Itoo alias Mehmood Ghaznavi at his native village Nagam Chadoora in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Meanwhile Hizbul Mujhadeen has appointed Muhammad Bin Qasim as its new Field Operational Commander
Ghaznavi along with his two associates were killed in a fierce gun battle in Awneera Shopian in South Kashmir on Sunday morning. He was the Operational Field Commander of local militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen.
Eyewitnesses said tens of thousands of mourners participated in his funeral procession amid complete shutdown.
Human Rights Activist Muhammad Ahsan Untoo who was part of the funeral procession said that over 50,000 people were present in the mourning procession. “I could see saw of people here chanting pro-freedom slogans. He was a my close friend and we both spent a lot of time in Jail together,” Unto said.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed in the Chadoora town against the killing of Hizb militants
Meanwhile Hizbul Mujhadeen has appointed Muhammad Bin Qasim as its new Field Operational Commander. He will replace Mehmood Ghaznavi, who along with his two associates was killed in a gunfight at Awneera village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
“Though the separation of Muhammad Yasin Itoo alias Mehmood Ghaznavi, Engineer Irfan Sheikh and Umar Majid is very painful but their every drop of blood will produce thousands of valiant militants,” Hizb Chief Syed Salahuddin said while addressing a high level meeting of Hizb Command Council.
In a statement to vernacular news agency CNS, Syed Salahuddin said that after the martyrdom of Burhan Wani, India was the under the impression that it has weakened the freedom movement but still thousands of freedom loving people are facing their bullets.
“It is really sad some stooges and agents are involved in the killing of militants but these agents will face the music. The sacrifices and blood of freedom loving people will not go waste,” he said and advised India to read the writing on the wall.
The meeting was also addressed by Hizb Deputy Chief Saifullah Khalid who paid rich tributes to slain militants and described Mehmood Ghaznavi as an inspirational and motivational figure who according to him gave sleepless nights to India Forces.
