Srinagar: A lady was killed while her nephew sustained injuries after they were attacked by unidentified gunmen in Chadoora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.
Officials said that a lady identified as Amreena Bhat from Hushroo Chadoora along with her 10-year-old nephew was fired upon by the unidentified gunmen, leaving them seriously wounded.
The lady and her nephew were immediately rushed to Sub District Hospital Chadoora wherefrom doctors referred the injured lady to Srinagar hospital in critical condition.
However, she succumbed to her injuries on way to the hospital. Medical Superintendent of SMHS hospital, Dr. Kanwaljeet Singh said the lady was brought dead to the hospital.
Moreover, the area has been cordoned off and the searches have been launched to nab the attackers.
Meanwhile, police said that three militants associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) are involved in the attack.
“At around 1955 hrs , terrorists fired upon one lady Amreen Bhat D/o Khazir Mohd Bhat R/o Hushroo Chadoora at her home. She was shifted to hospital in injured condition where doctors declared her dead. Her 10 year old nephew who was also at home recieved bullet injury on his arm,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
“Three terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT were involved in this heinous terror incident. Area has been cordoned off and search started. Case registered and investigation on,” Police tweeted.
Drone Surveillance, RFID chips part three-tier security cover for Amarnath Yatra: IGP Kashmir
Srinagar: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar Wednesday said that drone surveillance and RFID chips will be part of three-tier security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
Talking to reporters on the side-lines of the wreath laying ceremony of a policeman who was killed in Kreeri, Baramulla encounter, the IGP Kashmir said that since past one month, police along with other security agencies have been reviewing the security arrangements for the upcoming Yatra.
“This year, drone surveillance and RFID chips will be part of the three-tier security arrangements for the pilgrims,” the IGP said, adding that “security forces will ensure incident free and smooth yatra.”
The annual pilgrimage would start on June 30 this year. The J&K administration is expecting a record number of pilgrims this years in view of the heart wave across India. At least 400 additional companies of security forces have started to arrive in Kashmir for ensuring smooth and hassle free Yatra. The pilgrims will be under constant watch of the security agencies through RFID chips
