Drug peddler held in Ang: Police

Anantnag : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and also recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that a police party from Police Post Sherbagh at a checkpoint established at Court Road Anantnag intercepted one person identified as Rasik Aziz Mir son of Abdul Aziz Mir resident of Mirgund Khanabal and upon checking recovered 500 grams of charas from his possession, stating therein further that the accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law stands registered him and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
