Tral : The residents of Razak Shah hamlet in Tral sub district of South Kashmir have expressed concern over the lack of school in their vicinity, demanding functioning of abandoned govt school.
The aggrieved residents on Thursday said that the lone school in the area was abandoned long time back, and is yet to be made functional, due to the reasons better known to concerned authorities. They said that their wards suffer while travelling to other areas to get education, with authorities showing no interest to made the existing school functional, despite back to back requests. One of the residents namely Tariq Ahmad has said that all other areas have their own schools, but their wards ‘have to travel 2 to 3 kms’ to get education. He said that they usually accompany them to schools, particularly at the time of rains, while they remain out of labourer work during those times.
Aabiroo Bilal, a little student from Razak Shah hamlet has said that she wants this school to be made functional, so that locals students may be able to get education in their own area. “I want this school to be made functional soon. We will study here, as we have to travel 2 kms to reach school, even at the time of rainfall/snowfall,” she said.
The locals demanded that abandoned school in the area must be made functional at the earliest, so that their wards can get admission at their own school. Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tral, Shabir Ahmad Raina has said that “the school would be renovated, once the funds are available.”
