Kupwara: In yet another instance of displaying communal harmony, the Muslims in Lolab valley of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Monday performed the last rites of an elderly deceased Pandit woman.
Reports said that Rita Kumari (70), a Kashmiri Pandit lady of Lalpora area of Lolab died on Monday.
Soon after news about her death spread, the local Muslims started reaching her home to help the family in performing the last rites.
The local Muslims organised and performed her last rites and mourned her death as one of their own.
“We have shared joys and sorrows with her and we feel like our own family member has passed away today,” Ghulam Mohammad, a local resident said, adding that they arranged everything needed for the cremation.
