Anantnag : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Anantnag and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Thursday police said that a police party of Police Station Bijbehara at a checkpoint established at Uranhall Bijbehara intercepted three persons identified as Fayaz Ahmad Dar son of Ab Rashid Dar resident of SubhanporaQaimoh, Mohd Asif Bhat son of Mohd Khaleel Bhat and Sajad Ahmad Dar son of Gh Hassan Dar, both residents of BatengooAnantnag from whom 5 grams of Brown Sugar (Chitta) was recovered during checking.
Stating further that a cash amount of ₹25000/- believed to be the proceeds of narcotic crime & a weighing machine was also recovered from the possession of the said accused who have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in its statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station against them and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
