Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said that officers from Police Station Kreeri and PP Wagoora under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri during routine checking at Watergam Kreeri intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05H-9954 with two persons on board identified as Ab Hamid Bhat son of Ab Samad Bhat resident of Hygam Sopore and Irfan Ahmad Mir son of Gh Mohd Mir resident of Kawcheck, Kreeri and recovered 8.5 grams of Heroin like substance from the vehicle.
Stating that the accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, police in it’s statement further said that the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Police in its statement also said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kreeri and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
