Veeri reviews performance of Rev Deptt

Jammu: Stressing on prompt service deliverance and maintaining transparency in working of the department, the Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri Wednesday directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure regular monitoring for providing hassle free service to the   people and fast digitization of records.

The Minister was speaking at a one day conference of revenue officers held here Wednesday.

Veeri also took a comprehensive review of the functioning and performance of the Revenue Department in Jammu province.

Reviewing the targets set for different procedures, the Minister asked the ACRs/ SDMs to personally monitor the progress regarding Jamabandi on weekly basis and make the concerned Tehsildar accountable for completion of the target within one month. Each concerned Naib Tehsildar has to complete one Jamabandi every month, he said and asked the concerned authorities to get the process expedited to complete the left out task in one month.

Regarding documentation of Khasra Girdwari, it was informed in the meeting that against the pending work in 2459 villages of ten districts of the province, the task has been completed in 1470. The Minister set the target of completing the Girdwari for 979 left out villages by the mid of September this year.

Similarly against the target of clearing 4276 pendency of attestation of mutations in six months, the department has attested 3850 in last three months and it was further given out that in a major achievement, the department retrieved 6.60 lakh kanal state land and expunged its unauthorized entries, the meeting was informed.

It was made out that there is imminent need to fencing the retrieved land for which the department needs adequate infrastructure, men and machinery.

The Minister also stressed on the computerization/ digitization of revenue records and directed to complete the process before the already set deadline of   February 2018. He directed the functionaries to properly maintain and expedite the digitization/computerization of left out revenue records. He directed the revenue officers to take all requisite measures to redress the grievances of the people.

Issues related to mutations, settlements, encroachments, land acquisition, and relief & rehabilitation process were also discussed in the meeting.

The Minister also reviewed the performance with regard to relief and rehabilitation and progress made in the implementation of package/scheme for one time settlement of Displaced Persons. It was informed that during the current year Rs 50 Lakh has been provided to each district for procurement of relief material like blankets etc.

Regarding DP’s settlement, it was informed that 30,052 forms have been distributed by the designated officers among the claimants so far against which they have received 13,297, while 6246 cases have been submitted to state government till Aug 1, 2017.

The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner, Dr M. K. Bhandari, Commissioner Secretary Revenue Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Commissioner Survey and Land Records Shahid Inayatullah, Deputy Commissioners of all Districts of Jammu Division, besides senior functionaries of the Department.
