Sopore Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Sopore and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that officers at a checkpoint established at Nadihal crossing intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01N-5535 with two persons on board and upon checking recovered 1.5Kgs of charas like substance concealed in a bag form their possession.
Stating that the accused have been identified as Muhammad Shafi Shah son of Ali Muhammad resident of Takiya Wagoora Baramulla and Showkat Ahmad Mir son of Farooq Ahmad resident of Nehalpora Pattan, police in it’s statement said that the above named accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody and a ehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Police in its statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 19/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Panzla and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
