Srinagar: An eight-year-old boy, who had gone missing from his home at Awoora village of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on February 15, was found buried on Tuesday in forest area of Awoora, leaving his family shell-shocked.
“The body of Talib Hussain Khan, 8, a resident of Awoora village was found buried at nearby woods Tuesday morning,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara Yougal Manhas.
As the news spread in the Awoora area, thousands of people from adjacent villages flooded the house of little Talib amid wails, shrieks and cries. Locals said that there were tears in everyone’s eyes, as the sounds of a painfully distressed mother mourning her minor son’s murder pierced the air.
Masooda Begum, mother of Talib while crying loudly said: “I can’t live without my son anymore. Please don’t take him away. I can’t live without him,” she shouted. “Please bring him back!”
The victim’s family demanded death for the culprits involved in the murder and said that what was Talib’s sin and why was he murdered. Another relative said that the perpetrators of Talib’s murder should be sentenced to death.
The father of victim said that his son did nothing wrong, he was so innocent and his killers should be hanged to death.
POLICE VERSION: The mystery behind the sudden disappearance of a 08-year-old boy Talib Ahmad Khan has been solved after the body of the boy was recovered on the disclosure of the accused from a nearby forest area of village Awoora of district Kupwara. “Talib Hussain son of Manzoor Ahmad Khan of village Awoora had disappeared moments after he left home on the fateful day on 15th of February 2022,” a statement issued by the police said. “Since then, police had been on toes and had been relentlessly carrying the searches for the missing boy. All water bodies, surrounding jungles and suspected places were searched by police using drones and sniffer dogs but no clue could be struck. A large number of suspects were also put to sustained questioning dusting the last three weeks.”
The police statement said that after having explored all the possible angles and questioning of a large number of people in connection with the case, Police finally was able to zero-in on the main suspect who after sustained questioning confessed to the commission of crime and led to the recovery of the dead body of the victim boy.
“Police and even some prominent members from the civil society had also announced reward for anyone who would help in tracing the innocent child,” the statement said.
The SSP Kupwara stated that the accused in the case has turned out to be the neighbour of the victim namely Aamir Ahmad Khan son of Mohd Amin Khan aged 19-years and his mother Shahnaza Begum aged 37 yrs. “After the post-mortem, the body of Talib has been laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard Tuesday and investigations of the case have been taken ahead,” he said. Meanwhile, a large number of men, women and children flooded the house of Talib amid wails and cries. Thousands of people with moist eyes bid final adieu to the budding flower
