Srinagar : With an overall pass percentage of 75 percent, Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) on Tuesday declared the results of annual regular examinations of 12th standard of Kashmir division.
According to the result notification issued by J&K BOSE on Tuesday girl students have yet again outshined boys. “Girls registered a total pass percentage of 78 percent while boys registered only 72 percent,” BOSE said. BOSE also said that a total of 72,180 students were enrolled for the exams and 54,087 were declared passed.According to BOSE, at least 23,573 students bagged the distinction in the annual regular exams of 12th standard, 20,717 students got first division, 9277 secured second division and 509 passed the exams with third division. The figures also reveal that in the exams, at least 11 students were having disputed eligibility, 47 students were absent, 09 students were disqualified and an examination was cancelled of 26 students. The students were given a syllabi relaxation of 40 percent following the closure of schools in view of COVID-19 outbreak.
Girl students have bagged all the top slot in the examination. One of the toppers, Arusa Parvaiz bagged the top position from the Faculty of Science. Arusa, the student of Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute Naseem Bagh has secured 99.8 percent marks in the exams. She says that the guidance of her teachers and support of parents make her successful in achieving the feat. “I consider myself very lucky in terms of having the right guide and mentor because nothing would have been possible if I would not have been guided at the right time by my teachers,”, Arusa said. She further said that the online mode of education had made it a bit tough for the students to prepare for the exams. Arusa said, “In the aftermath of COVID-19, it has become very important to the students to focus more on their studies. Earlier, there might have been a scope of leniency in terms of self-studying, but this time the situation was entirely different as the students had to go through a very tough phase.” The topper dedicated her success to her parents and teachers. “They have unconditionally supported me.” Likewise, another topper from Faculty of Commerce, Tabinda Jan had secured 99.4 percent marks. She said that the hard-work and dedication let her achieve the huge success she has been dreaming of. “I always wanted to do something extraordinary and choosing the commerce stream had always remained my priority,” Jan said. Inspired by her father who is a chartered accountant by profession, Tabinda further said that she would pursue her career in commerce only. Besides, Science and Commerce streams, the top position from Faculty of Arts were also bagged by the female candidates. From the Faculty of Arts, Adeebah Muzamil, a student of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh bagged the first position in the stream by securing 99.2 percent marks followed by Sahila Nabi of Faculty of Home Science from Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh.
