Undertake frequent field visits, ensure timely execution of projects: CM tells secretaries

Stress laid on identification of land for border migrants, prioritizing flood protection works in Pin Panchal region
Srinagar: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti Monday directed the Administrative Secretaries to undertake frequent field visits to assess the execution of developmental projects on the ground and intervene on the spot in case of any difficulty or bottleneck.
Chairing a review meeting of key developmental projects in the Districts of Reasi, Poonch and Rajouri here Monday, the Chief Minister expressed dismay over slow pace of execution of development works and low spending in these Districts. She asked the Administrative Secretaries to monitor closely the pace of developmental works in the region and try to remove the bottle necks on the spot as and when these come to surface.
The Chief Minister also asked the Divisional Administration Jammu to identify land for the border migrants of Poonch and Rajouri districts so that the schools in these areas, which are being used presently as temporary shelters for them, are not overburdened and the academic activity is not disrupted.
Mebooba Mufti specifically asked for prioritising flood protection works in the area in view of its vulnerability. She asked the concerned Department to pursue flood protection works with the Central Water Commission and get them approved. She also asked for early completion of work on the Rs. 18 crore Poonch Mini Secretariat complex, pacing up of work on Loran-Gulmarg road and also exploring the possibility of opening up of Gulabgarh- Nandimarg road for traffic to further connect the people of two regions. She directed identification of land for developing a sports field at Kalsian in Nowshehra and upgradation of school buildings at Chingus and Rajouri.
The Chief Minister asked for keeping a provision of stand-bye machinery at the Water Supply and Lift Irrigation Schemes so that in case of any fault these are immediately replaced.
The meeting was informed at Degree College at Dharmari would be commissioned by March, 2018 even as she directed immediate release of land compensation for setting up a college at Sara Bagga.
Legislators of these Districts; Chief Secretary B.B. Vyas; Administrative Secretaries of various Departments and senior officers were present in the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, M. K. Bhandari, Deputy Commissioners and District Officers of these Districts also attended the meeting via video conference.
