Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that brutal killing of our youth by Indian Forces is fast becoming the order of the day and is highly disturbing. He said today as leadership had planned a sit in outside UNMOGIP office to highlight this issue and register our protest and strong resentment against the systematic genocide of our youth carried out by the armed forces, another youth Tanveer Ahmed Wani of Beerwah, Budgam was shot dead by the Indian forces in cold blood with impunity . Expressing deep sorrow and strongly condemning the killing Mirwaiz asked how long are the people of Kashmir going to helplessly witness the brutal murder of our young generation while world community watches as a mute spectators. When will they stand up and take notice. When will those in India that claim upholding of human rights especially such basic right as the life have the courage to speak up!
Expressing sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved family of murdered Tanveer, Mirwaiz said Kashmiri youth are being targeted for refusing to live a life of suppression, and standing up for their fundamental right to freedom and each life lost and each sacrifices made puts the onus of the realization of this ideal more and more on the nation and leadership. Mirwaiz prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured youth.
Hurriyat (M) chairman, who continues to be under house arrest for the fifth consecutive Friday in a row, said sealing the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar for the fifth consecutive week is the ultimate example state repression and being under occupation. Mirwaiz said it is ironic that PDP which once claimed so called representation of Muslims of the valley in connivance with the right wing BJP is facilitating their anti-muslim anti Kashmir agenda in Kashmir and deserves all out condemnation.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat (M) spokesman said sealing all roads leading to UN office in Sonwar, preventing people from reaching there, blocking the roads outside Mirwaiz’s Nigeen residence with rolls of concertina wires, and deploying police and paramilitary troopers in large numbers, reflects the repressive mindset and policy of the ruling regime
The spokesman said that caging Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq veteran aged leader Syed Ali Geelani in their homes and once again arresting Muhammad Yasin Malik while placing other Hurriyat leaders including Muktar Ahmed Waza, Shahid-ul- Islam, Hilal Ahmed war under house arrest and in police stations and converting entire Kashmir into a prison through curfew and restrictions are moves aimed to suppress people’s peaceful right to protest and resist occupation. He said government by now must know that these moves may temporarily suppress the people but are bound to fail in deterring people from pursuing their struggle and resisting repression. (KNS)
