Srinagar : Jammu & Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) has strongly reacted to the publishing of “blasphemous material” in a history book of 7th class and called it a condemnable act.
In a statement issued here on Monday the Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) Mohd Rafique Rather said that it is preposterous and shameful act of pictorial depiction of sensetive nature relating to a particular religion aimed at hurting the sentiments of millions of its followers all over the world and added that the act is in no case acceptable and tolerable as well.
Rather said that authorities need to investigate as how come the material was distributed among schools without a review by the concerned authorities and initiate action against those found guilty.
Rafique Rather however hailed Board of School Education for their prompt and immediate action of banning the book and subsequent withdrawal of said book (7th class History and Civics) from all schools and added that authorities should make it sure that the book is not taught or preserved in any institution.
Calling for a legal action against the publisher JAY CEE PUBLISHING HOUSE for the grave mistake and display of insensitivity towards a highly sensitive issue, despite their public apology, Rather said that authorities should make it sure that such controversial material is not published and distributed in future and a team of experts should be constituted to take a holistic review of all books taught in schools.
