While elaborating the schemes, he said that under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP) schemes 25 to 35% subsidy is provided to the beneficiaries, whereas, an assistance up to Rs 25 lakh and Rs 10 lakh is provided under manufacturing and service sectors, respectively.
The Secretary KVIB further said that these schemes are also envisioned to contain migration of the people from rural to urban areas in search of job opportunities. He informed that both the schemes are online and people can avail their benefits from their home without visiting offices.
The Secretary also mentioned that J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board is also the Nodal Agency for Implementing Scheme of Funds for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) for J&K. He urged the NGOs, Trusts and registered Societies to come forward for revitalization of the traditional vanishing industries under these schemes by formation of clusters.
Dy. CEO Jammu Division presented the details about the types of the activities allowed under both the schemes and those falling under the negative list. He gave a detailed presentation on both PMEGP and JKREGP schemes to the participants.
