Police organises painting, singing competitions in Kulgam

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to promote sports and other co-curricular activities among the youth, Police have organised painting and singing competitions in Kulgam. Besides, a debate on “Role of Police in Nation Building” was organized in Handwara and a marathon under the banner of ‘Run for Peace’ was also organised in Bandipora.
In Kulgam, multiple competitions including painting and singing were organised by Police at DPL Kulgam in which 40 students of various schools participated. Moreover, a movie describing the role of Police in society was also presented on the occasion. Besides, two separate events of Marathon “Run for Unity” for boys and girls were also organized in which 100 participants participated. On the occasion, SSP Kulgam Dr.G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy chaired the prize distribution ceremony and felicitated the winners of the competitions with trophies. Besides, study material was also distributed among deserving candidates.
Meanwhile, Police in Handwara in collaboration with GDC Handwara organized a debate on “Role of Police in Nation Building”. On the occasion, SP Handwara Sandeep Gupta, Principal GDC Handwara Professor G. N Pala, DySP DAR Handwara and other faculty members of College were also present.
The event was organized to pay homage to the Martyrs of Police who laid down their lives for nation and simultaneously channelizing the talent of youth. Presenting inaugural speech Principal GDC Handwara highlighted the role of Police in society vis-a-vis nation building; students from various streams also highlighted the role of police in nation building.
SP Handwara Sandeep Gupta also highlighted the role of Police and responsibilities of youth in nation building and also paid rich tributes to the police martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the peace and prosperity of the nation. He also thanked college administration for their cooperation and participation in honouring the Police Martyrs and felicitated the top three position holders from both boys and girls with prizes, trophies and certificates.
Meanwhile, Police in Bandipora organized a marathon under the banner of “Run for Peace” which started from SK Stadium Bandipora to Potushahi Bandipora and back to SK Stadium Bandipora. Large number of students/youth of district Bandipora participated in the event and was flagged off by Dy SP Hqrs Bandipora Mohammad Idrees. On the occasion, Bilal Anwar, Mohammad Maroof, Shaheen Khaleef and Aijaz Ahmad bagged the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions respectively. The winners were felicitated with cash rewards and appreciation certificates.
Community members have lauded the role of Police for organising such events and hoped that Police will organise such events in future to channelize the energy of youth into positive manner that will help in nation building. The chairing officers said that, Police has expanded its role by promoting sports talent of the youth and such programmes are organised with an aim to inspire the youth towards the sports, so that students apart from studies will take part in extra co-curricular activities for their overall development.
