4 drug peddlers in Ang & Bla, Huge quantity of contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Anantnag & Baramulla districts and also recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Thursday police said that police Station Bijbehara received a specific information that one person namely Mohd Yousuf Reshi son of Ali Mohammad Reshi resident of Waghama Bijbehara has indulged in drug peddling and has hoarded a huge quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house following which a police party of PS Bijbehara under the supervision of SDPO Bijbehara alongwith Executive Magistrate raided the specific house and recovered 580Kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in 27 bags from the said house. However, police in it’s statement also said that the house owner Mohd Yusuf Reshi managed to flee from the spot, while as his two sons identified as Zahid Ahmad Reshi and Aamir Ahmad Reshi were arrested and have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, stating therein further that efforts are on to effect the arrest of other involved accused person.
Stating that yet in another similar incident in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district the officers from PS Pattan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan during routine naka checking at Hanjiwara Pattan intercepted two persons identified as Fayaz Ahmad Hajam son of Abdul Rahim Hajam and Mehraj-ud-Din Tantray son of Ghulam Ahmad Tantray, both residents of Shirpora Pattan and upon checking 350 grams of charas were recovered from their possession, police in it’s statement further said that the above named accused were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
In the concluded para of it’s above referred statement police said that it has registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.
