Career of scores of medical graduates put to risk, MP Masoodi seeks Minister’s intervent

New Delhi: National Conference Member Parliament Hasnain Masoodi on Thursday called on Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaya and sought his intervention to save career of scores of Medical graduates hailing from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Masoodi informed the Minister that the students on the strength of their merit and in some cases as part of SAARC exchange programme secured admission to MBBS course in prestigious Medical Colleges and Medical Universities like King Edward Medical University, Fatima Jinnah Medical University in Pakistan and successfully completed the course, but notwithstanding their merit and eligibility were now being denied opportunity to serve the society and punished for no fault of theirs. Masoodi told Minister that most of the students with MBBS degrees to their credit were either being denied opportunity to appear in FMGE or result of those permitted to appear was arbitrarily withheld. Minster was told that in a few cases certificates of successful candidates were not being attested by the consulate.
Masoodi while handing over list of the aggrieved candidates with all necessary details to the Minister , sought his intervention in the matter so that career of scores of meritorious students was saved, their mental agony and of their families ended and they are given an opportunity to serve the society. He pointed out that the students can not be subjected to discrimination only because they obtained Medical Degree otherwise duly recognised under rules in force, from a particular Country. Minister made an assurance that the matter would be examined with all urgency and steps taken to redress the grievance.
