DGP sanctions Rs. 1.18 Cr spl welfare/ex-gratia relief for NoKs of police personnel/SPOs

Srinagar: Director General Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned rupees 90 lakh as Special Welfare Relief and rupees 38 lakh ex-gratia relief in favour of dependents/legal heirs of martyred, deceased Police personnel/SPOs.

According to a police statement issued on Tuesday DGP has sanctioned Rs 38 lakh ex-gratia relief in favour of NoKs of SgCt Manzoor Ahmad who attained martyrdom in a terrorist attack at Natipora Srinagar.

Police statement further reads “the special welfare relief of Rs 20 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased personnel ASI Bashir Ahmad, HCs Chain Singh, Peer Riyaz Ahmad and Ct. Kamal Kumar who expired during service due to health-related issues”, adding that “ DGP has also sanctioned Rs 5 lakh each in favour of NoKs of martyred SPO Fayaz Ahmad who were killed in a militant attack and SPO Mohd Taj who expired due to illness, during the course of their engagement with the department”.

Stating that out of this amount (special welfare relief) Rs one lakh each was already paid to the families/NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units/Districts, police in it’s statement said “the financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund”.

In the concluding para of the above referred statement police said “Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families”, adding that “ there are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs and there are also schemes for the NoKs of those killed in the line of duty, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses”.
